Embroidery Patterns

Nowadays, embroidery patterns with beads or threads are in high demand among craftswomen. Special attention is given to embroidery patterns by experienced artisans. Since ancient times, women in Ukraine, particularly girls, devoted a significant amount of time to sewing shirts, dresses, blouses, and various towels.

Before sewing, an important step followed - embellishing with embroidery. Various symbols and signs were depicted on the embroidery patterns with threads, which not only adorned the item but also endowed it with protective properties. These signs were called ornaments, among which the most popular were geometric and floral. They served as protection against diseases and misfortunes, carrying various signs: love (hops), resilience of the people (oak and viburnum), joy of creating a family (grape bunch), etc...

The palette mainly featured black and red colors, with green and blue added, although an increase in the color palette was observed from the North of Ukraine to the South. The variety of motifs was also impressive, depending on age, gender, and the purpose of the item (for joyful or mournful events).

Motifs also varied depending on the region of Ukraine, each having its own diversity of patterns. The emergence of beads brought a new breath to embroidery in Ukraine, adding shine and elegance to embroidered garments and towels.

Today, the embroidered shirt has preserved not only as a type of protective item but has also become quite a stylish clothing option by fashion standards. Many leading designers use the ornaments and motifs of embroidered shirts in their creations, which undoubtedly speaks of the enduring trends of embroidered shirts in the world of style and fashion. It also carries a certain patriotism and tribute to the culture of our ancestors.

For the production of patterns at TM Kolorova, high-quality fabric is used with a wide range of colors, and in addition, the fabric comes in several varieties (Colored, Handwoven, and Gabardine), allowing you to choose the desired composition and thread density.

Patterns on the fabric at TM Kolorova are applied in the form of schemes - this is an image broken into small squares, each of which contains one bead or cross-stitch if embroidered with threads. Each square also has its own color or symbol (denoting similar colors). In TM Kolorova, the colors used in the scheme are listed in a separate column called "key." Thanks to this "key," novice crafters can use the recommended colors without having to select beads themselves. If desired, one can order a scheme for embroidery with the recommended beads or threads. It remains only to sew the beads or threads into the squares with the corresponding colors. Some experienced artisans independently select beads for the patterns at their discretion.

When developing schemes for embroidery, we strive not only to preserve a part of the past history of our ancestors but also to make embroidery more modern and youthful.

For applying the scheme to the fabric, special equipment is used that ensures high-quality printing. In the case of dark-colored fabrics, for more convenient subsequent embroidery, water-soluble fusible interfacing is used, onto which the scheme is applied. The scheme itself is pinned to the fabric, and when the item is already embroidered with beads or threads, the embroidery is dipped in warm water for a few seconds, resulting in the fusible interfacing dissolving.
